Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Review!

Heey

First of all, i haven't posted in five days, i know! I am very sorry for this but i have been feeling really really rubbish of late and am only starting to feel slightly more human today! Doing a wee fake tan and making a few new gym class plans really does make you feel better!

Anyway, today i'm reviewing two of the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer range.

I know there have been a lot of bloggers reviewing this and everyone and their granny now owns them but some of you still wanted me to share my thoughts so here they are!

When i popped into Boots, i instantly loved all of the colours in this range. I had to stop myself from buying every single one and just settled for two! I picked Nova and Galaxy.

I'll start with Nova, go onto Galaxy then do a quick bringing together of the overall product.

NOVA

I picked Nova as i hardly own any light pink lip products. I tend to shy away from these shades for some unknown reason as i really do love them but i just feel they sometimes don't suit me. Nevertheless, i bought it for a change and to try something i usually wouldn't.

This is Nova on the Lips. (My teeth look squint, they're definitely not! My smile however, really is squint! My sister loves to mention this on a daily basis!) It's a really pretty colour despite how much i thought i would hate it. I am really really excited for Spring to hurry its ass along so i can pop this on with a little spring dress! It is definitely a cute little S/S colour!

GALAXY

So Galaxy is a lot darker and is sort of a burgundy wine colour. I always go for shades like this, i think they suit me and they remind me of Rimmel's Matte Kate Moss lipstick in 107 which is my ultimate fave lipstick even before MAC's Russian Red which used to be my go-to lipstick before!

The photo's probably don't look as dark as the colour really looks in life as the lighting in my room is really bright today but it does show that it is a darker shade than Nova. The shade is less pink than it looks in these pictures, more like the swatch on my hand above.

Overall Review
I love the colours of both of these and i do not regret purchasing them, however, as with every product, i have found a few pros and cons to these which i will list for you now :):

PROS
Beautiful colour selection
Smell really nice, similar to Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks in my opinion
Pretty Packaging & Names
Really pigmented
Nice change from a normal gloss or lipstick
Not sticky

CONS
Messy
Don't have that long a staying power on the lips
Don't dry

Adding comments to the cons, i would say that what really annoys me about these products are they are messy, i apply the product, sometimes go a bit overboard, and i literally find it every where! All over my teeth and face and it's unfixable so i just have to start again.

I also don't like how they stay wet. I know they are not a lipstick and that's fine, and i love that they are not sticky like a lot of lip glosses, but i just find they are a bit too wet. This also means that they don't stay on very long in my opinion, as soon as i drink a coffee it's pretty much off, meaning i have to re-apply a few times in a day!

Conclusions
Although i have a few issues with this product, overall i think the colours and pigmentation probably make them a worthwhile buy to me!

I really want Big Bang, but i'm not too sure if i will invest as i honestly prefer lipsticks. I am glad i gave these beauties a go though and i will definitely use up the two i have bought!

Do you find them the same as i do or do you absolutely love them?

Double Haul!

Hello!

Well done to all you beauts who managed a spending ban for the month of January! As you probably know, I am far too much of a shopaholic to manage that! I've been trying to buy less clothing and make-up though, not to much success mind you!

So you guys told me what posts you would like to see from me and included in these suggestions was more hauls! I am able to do these as I spend far too money on crap so here's my recent purchases:

I've separated the items into two different showing trips but all items are fairly recent and you should def be able to still pick everything up if you want something! Here's the first trip:

Right, items included here are:

Denim shirt with chiffon printed sleeve - Primark £12
Eylure Lash Glue - Superdrug £2.99
Pink shoes with patent black toe - Primark Sale £2
Babyliss Volume Waves Styler - Tesco £20

The jewellery items were all in the sale from Matalan:

I got the rose gold spike bracelet for £1.50
The spike, stud and ball set for £1.50
And snog, marry, avoid set for £1!

I think this denim shirt will be really pretty with leggings or tucked into disco pants or something over the spring months, its pretty and the chiffon sleeves give it a cute twist from a normal denim shirt.

The eyelash glue is my essential purchase, I buy this all the time and use it with every set of strip lashes I use whether they are eylure lashes or not as I think it is the best glue and is the only on that I find effective!

The pink shoes will also be cute with some jeans or something into spring and I can't resist anything pink so they had to be mine.

I plan to review the Babyliss volume waves styler soon as I love it, it gives nice subtle waves and is a good alternative to my curling wand that creates quite tight curls.

Lastly, the jewellery. Obviously I'm still obsessed with studs and spikes so I love all of these and the snog, marry, avoid bracelets are just a bit of cheeky fun and I think they're cute!

Annnd, onto my second shopping trip!

The fashion items here include:

JERK top - Primark £4
BAD top - Primark £4
Stud shorts - Primark Sale £5
Mint green mini skirt - H&M Sale £5
Floral peplum top - H&M £9.99
Leopard shoes - Primark Sale £2

So I went pretty sale mental as I'm on a spending limit rather than a ban to see how well I do! I bought the JERK and BAD tops from Primark as I already have two of the GEEK tops from Topshop which I love as they're so comfy and casual and these are so similar that I felt I had nothing to lose for £4 and they'll make good gym tops! I know a lot of people hate these, along with my topshop ones but, I'm not asking anyone else to wear them ;-).

I'm in love with the floral peplum from H&M, so much so that I really want to buy the trousers they have in the same pattern! It goes really well with the denim shorts or the mint skirt for spring/summer which were both a bargain so I'm one happy lady!

The primark shoes are general primark flats. I wear heels most days so these won't be worn that much, just on casual days with some skinny jeans or something, but you can never have enough pairs of shoes right!

Onto beauty, I bought the Rimmel Apocalips from boots for £5.99 each (i think) in Nova and Galaxy. I haven't tried these too much so I will do a review when I have given them a better test, but I love all the colours!

I also picked up the V05 dry backcomb spray and the texturising spray. I will probably do a review on these too but let's just say, I am less than impressed. If you have tried these please let me know your opinions, I'm interested to know if you got on well worth them or not.

Hope you like, what's your favourite item I've purchased?
What have you been buying recently?

Poundland Purchases!

Hello

So i don't know about any of you guys but i really love to have a look in Poundland. It often has little bits and bobs that are well worth picking up as they are much more expensive everywhere else!

So, while i was in town the other day i decided to pop in and have a little look. I resisted buying loads and loads of stuff but i did pick up a few thing which i'll share with you guys!

On this trip i picked up all of the above for £1 each.

The first thing is a gold dazzle eye-dust by colour addict called 'Gold Digger'.

It is a beautiful colour, i've been looking for a gold eye product for ages so i thought it would give this one a go. The only downfall of this i think, is that it is a really loose powder and litterally gets everywhere, so i'd advise wearing pjammas or something while you're applying and do your eyes before you finish off your face!

This is just one swipe of it across my hand and although you can't see quite how shimmery it is it does show how pretty and quite subtle the colour is just using a little product.

I also picked up two nail polishes, the first one is this in 'Ariel' from Chit Chat.

This polish looks really really lovely in the bottle, however, on the nail it is actually a bit of a let down and is really just a blue-glitter top coat! I was a bit disappointed with this to be fair as i thought it would be a bit more coverage and it also takes ages to dry and smells really strong!

With just one coat (ignore the chipped gold underneath!)

Two coats.

I do actually think this polish would be really nice with a blue base colour or a green or something rather than just on my natural nail but i still don't absolutely love it. At least i don't feel like i wasted loads of money on it!

I also got this one by Revlon Matte Suede in 507 'Fire Fox':

I really like the colour, its a sort of shimmery red with tiny tiny bits of glitter in it. It does dry matte which i'm loving just now:

(excusing my quick mess!)

This picture doesn't really show how matte it dries as this had to be taken with my camera flash on! I love anything matte just now from lipsticks to nail polishes so i love the finish of this! If you didn't want it to be matte however you could always shove a shiny top-coat over it. It's a lovely colour, i love the finish and it dries quite fast!

Then, i bought one more eye product from Rimmel London:

This is the Rimmel Eyeful Glistening Eye Crayon in shade 100 'Girls Only'. It's a really sheer pink shiny colour and looks lovely on the eyes.

Pretty pretty, i've been wearing this with a light browny colour blended to the corners and the crease of my eye and it looks really subtle and nice! It's quite creamy so i would advise using an eye primer before applying to stop it creasing throughout the day.

Annnnd that's all i picked up in Poundland this time!

Would you be interested in seeing future Poundland purchases?
Do you look in there sometimes for a bargain?

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss - First Impressions Review

Hello

Since i bought these lipsticks i have been asked a few questions about how long they last, how matte the appearance is, the colour's etc, so i thought i would review them today for you!

I bought two of the Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte collection by Kate Moss for £4 each on promotion in ASDA, i'm not sure if this is ongoing but you can pick them up from Boots, Superdrug etc for around £5.49 each.

I picked up the lipsticks in shade 107 and 110.

I'll start on 110! So this lipstick is a bight red colour despite it looking quite orange in the picture (it's definitely red!). I loved this as soon as i seen it as i love love love matte lips and i love red lipstick on anyone! It's a simple colour and can really add a pop to a plain outfit.

Here's a swatch of the colour on a lovely close up of my hand! It was hard to get a picture of this on myself as the lighting today is really awful but i tried, so here are a couple (excusing my minimal 'work appropriate' makeup look!)..

Doesn't really match the dress does it? It looks a bit brighter in the pictures due to my flash i had to use because of the lighting, but i think they show how more red it is than orange. I love the colour and having worn it yesterday for around 5/6 hours baring in mind i had drank coffee, been outside all day and eaten lunch, i would say it's staying power is pretty good!

Anyway, i also love it in shade 107!

This one is more of a winey sort of reddish purple (great description skills Ash!) colour. I picked this shade up before shade 110 and decided that i have enough reds and just to get this one instead.. but nope, i just got both! I decided to swatch and put this one on for you guys to see too :)..

As you can see it is more of a wine colour sort of in-between a red and a purple. I also took some pretty rubbish photos of it on the lips and me doing crazy faces..

Matches the dress much better! I have to say, despite me being an avid red fan, this is quickly becoming my new favorite lipstick. It takes a while to dry into the lips and become a bit more smudge proof but it is a really pretty matte colour and really looks lovely on. Obviously in the middle picture i don't have the lipstick on.. i was mid-application but thought it would be a good picture to show contrast between my actual lips and the lipstick.

Overall, i love the Matte collection by Kate Moss and i probably will buy one or more of the other available colours. I plan to compare these to the original Lasting Finish by Kate Moss lipsticks but, i already know i prefer the Matte ones just because i really love the finish. I know matte lips are not every one's cup of tea though! I will say that i feel they are a tiny bit drying on the lips but not excessively so and you can use a balm under them, it will just mean they may not look as matte.

Also, the smell of these is really really nice for a lipstick. I don't really know how to describe it but they smell almost fruity? Not sure, but it's really nice in my opinion!

I am going to wear one of these over the weekend for a whole day and see how long they last without  any reapplication. I will take photos (better ones in natural light!) and keep you updated!

Do you own any of the Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte collection?
Do you love them as much as me, or am i the only fan?

Small(ish) Fashion & Beauty Haul!

Hello

I have been shopping, again, for some basics for layering this winter and a few cheap and cheerful make-up pieces! The shops have some really nice bits and pieces in just now but (although this may just be me) i'm finding that everything seems to have the same patterns or same colours, and frankly, i just find them a bit boring now! So rather than go all out on clothing i just popped to Primark, Boots, Superdrug, Matalan and Asda and picked up a few cheapy bits :).

So this is what i picked up! Grey sequined snood from Primark (£5), Polka dot bra from Matalan (£3 in sale), Two plain basic tees in Plum and Red from Primark (£3 each), Two MUA eye shadow palettes from Superdrug ('Undressed' £3 & 'Poptastic' £4), Sparkly Clutch from Matalan (£4), Light Pink coloured skinny jeans from Primark (£5 from £11), Animal print faux fur ear muffs from Primark (£3), Penguin mitts also from Primark (£2), two Kate Moss Matte Lipsticks for Rimmel from Asda (£4 each on offer) and Cherry Carmex from Superdrug (£1.95, half price for a limited time).

Although i didn't pick up much i really like all of the pieces i got and have been using the (childish yet amazing!) penguin gloves and the ear muffs all weekend! The tee-shirts are just plain and simple and are easy to layer with different coats and jeans, leggings, disco pants etc! And, the glittery clutch (which is much more glittery than the pics make out!) was a real bargain at only £4 and will be lovely with a simple LBD and my perfectly matched glittery shoes from Schuh on Christmas nights out!

I had wanted the Matte Kate Moss for Rimmel lipstick in shade 110 since i had seen it as i love red lips and think they suit anyone and any skin tone!

However, when i went to buy this shade, i fell in love with shade 107 of the collection:

Since Asda had them for £4 each i just bought both, and i absolutely love them both! I will get onto showing you these on the lips and swatching both in another post if you want to see a review on them?

While i was in Superdrug, i picked up two lip liners as i don't really have many and the ones i do own are mostly pinks and nudes.

I bought these two in "Red Drama" and "Brooding Plum" from MUA as i thought they went really really well with the Kate Moss lipsticks and they look lovely on the lips despite their really cheap price tag at only £1 each.

Still on make-up but moving away from lips, I have been thinking about my eyebrows lately. I hardly have any 'real' eyebrows and they just refuse to grow, they have no shape and are just really really thin and rubbish! So every day i fill in and extend my eyebrows and have used many different kits from HD Brows, Gosh's Brow Kit and Gel to Benefits Browzing's and have found the best product for me to actually be a brow pencil by Tesco's make-up range 'Vivo' which costs me £1.50! However, drawing and shaping my eyebrows every single day, although essential, takes up a bit of time! Therefore, i though i would try a new (for me anyway) product which i seen on twitter from InstantEyes.co.uk.

These are eyebrow tattoos! (£3.99 for set of three). I am however, unable to tell you how good or bad these are as i haven't used them yet because i'm waiting for a day when i am actually doing something to try them out! I am excited to see how they work out for me and i shall keep you updated on how i get on!

Annnnd, i am going to stop rambling on about my exciting (or not so!) weeks purchases now!
Have you been buying any wintry essentials lately?
Or have any new make-up products you recommend?

Thanks for reading lovelies!
